The start of the summit on 22 April coincides with Earth Day, and it will come ahead of a major UN meeting on the crisis, scheduled for November in Glasgow, Scotland.

Guests will include – Prime Minister Narendra Modi, President Xi Jinping of China and President Vladimir Putin of Russia, both of whom have a challenging relationship with Mr Biden, Japanese Prime Minister Yoshihide Suga, Brazilian President Jair Bolsonaro, Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, Saudi Arabia King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud and UK Prime Minister Boris Johnson. With America’s re-entry into the Paris Accord on climate, the summit seeks to put Mr Biden’s stamp on the fight against climate change.
